Job Summary
The Emergency Management & Clery Compliance agent is responsible for performing the full range of work related to the coordination of the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) and working collaboratively with campus partners for Clery Act compliance for the Institute and prosperous advancement of emergency preparedness. this job offer will coordinate the efforts of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Emergency Management and the Institute as they prepare for the variety of emergencies that could affect the Rensselaer Community. The position will also serve as a member of the Emergency Management Operations Group providing support and direct feedback.

Minimum Qualifications
   » Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management or a related field
   » 5 years of responsible practice in emergency management in the public and/or private sector
   » Line practice performing emergency management.
   » practice in program development and implementation
   » practice in developing and conducting training and facilitating emergency preparedness drills
   » practice in researching and compiling information and preparing reports involving complex and divergent issues
   » Must possess and maintain a valid US driver's license
   » Must agree to attend Clery Compliance agent Certification from National Association of Clery Compliance agents and Professionals or prosperously complete an equivalent advanced Clery training within one year of hire
   » Must have or have the capability to obtain a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certification from the
International Associate of Emergency Managers (IAEM) within one year of hire
   » significant combinations of education, training and practice may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
   » Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Professional Development Series (PDS) and FEMA Advanced Professional Series (APS) training desired
   » Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certification 

Minimum Knowledge, expertise, and Abilities
   » Requires the capability to effectively relate and communicate with a diverse community
   » Must have technical knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) issues
   » Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) including command of ICS series
   » Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to emergency management
   » Knowledge of ICES (Incident Command Evaluation System)
   » Knowledge of Clery Act, Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, Violence Against Women Act and Title IX
   » Must have an knowledge of communication systems, frequencies, and equipment capabilities
   » Excellent critical thinking and practice in independent problem-solving expertise
   » practice in performing liaison activities and manage a variety of projects within designated timelines
   » Proven capability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with all levels within the institute, the community and with outside agencies
   » Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours and be available ?on-call? when required
   » Must have the capability to work effectively during emergencies and in high stress situations

Starting income/Rate
Expected hiring range :   $80,000 - $102,000 
Pay transparency disclosure:   The selected candidate's income will be determined located on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, practice, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer's good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
