Job Summary The Psychiatrist serves as a member of the Rensselaer Student Health Center team of committed professionals dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as an Institute-wide priority. The Psychiatrist provides direct clinical and consultation services including assessing, diagnosing, treating and managing behavioral health illnesses in a developmentally appropriate manner. Minimum Qualifications » MD from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency in an accredited program. 5 years of practice in psychiatric therapy post residency. » Licensed to practice in New York State » Candidate is Board Certified by the National Psychiatric Association or eligible for certification » candidates must meet stated minimum education and practice requirements. Minimum expertise, expertise, and Abilities » capability to assess and provide for the day-to-day needs of mentally, emotionally and/or developmentally disabled patients » Demonstrated capability to collaborate with healthcare providers, including capability to supervise and lead a team. » Strong clinical expertise and judgment » expertise of crisis intervention techniques » capability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress » capability to work effectively with a wide variety of constituencies in a diverse community » capability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form » capability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals » capability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the patient » capability to assess mental status in patients and to develop individual treatment goals and plans Shift Business Hours: Monday - Friday TravelNo travel Driving No Driving Application instructions Follow the on-screen prompts to create a brief online profile.
