Fire Safety Inspector, Part TimePerforms monthly inspections for fire and life safety devices located in College-owned properties and vehicles.Work Days: 2-3 days per week; flexible Shift Start/End Time: Flexible, located on the individual's need, but hours should be worked M-F during normal business hours for residential inspections. Hours Per Week: 16 Weeks Per Year: 52 Position Title: Fire Safety Inspector Pay Status and Classification:Part-time, non-exempt. This is a 12-month position. manager: Director of Environmental Health & Safety Position Purpose:Performs monthly inspections for fire and life safety devices located at College-owned properties. Essential Responsibilities and tasks: » Fire Extinguisher Inspections: Inspect fire extinguishers following the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 10 standards. Conduct minor repairs for extinguisher brackets and cases. Inform Fire Safety Compliance agent about major repairs that are needed. » AED Inspections: Inspect Automatic Defibrillator Devices (AEDs) following the American Heart Association recommendations. Maintain batteries and supplies. » Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspections:Test plug-in carbon monoxide detectors that are not connected to the Campus Safety notification system. » Reporting: Maintains inspection spreadsheet on Google Sheets file. Report fire code violations observed in the inspection areas to the Fire Safety Compliance agent. Participate in weekly Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) departmental meetings. Qualifications required » High School Diploma and a combination of significant training, certifications andor work practice. » Valid U.S. Driver's License. » Must be safety-conscious and be able to professionally communicate with a diverse group of campus community members. » capability to ascend and descend stairs frequently. » capability to do broad walking on campus. Preferred Qualifications required » expertise of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), state and local fire and building codes. » Fire safety training and practice. Compensation: The rate for this job offer is $18.90 an hour. Except for functions with a set rate of pay, the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
