Accounts Receivable Medical Billing Associate



The primary purpose of this job offer is to bill for program services, and collect funds on aged accounts receivable for Northern Rivers and affiliates
ESSENTIAL tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other tasks may be assigned. Employees are expected to be awake and alert while working.
   » Perform billing for a variety of programs/services governed by contract or grant agreements.
   » Submit billing data to insurance providers (including Medicaid) via electronic and/or paper claims.
   » Perform posting charges and completion of claims to payers in a timely fashion.
   » Clear knowledge of claims processing, as well as rules of multiple insurance companies.
   » Knowledge to interpret claim denials, work denials in a timely and efficient manner. When needed complete the appeal process.
   » Process insurance and Medicaid claims, (ensuring claims are paid in a timely manner and resubmitting when necessary).
   » Collect on aged Accounts Receivable balances on a recurring basis and follow up with multiple payers to effect cash collections of accounts.
   » Carry out billing, collections and reporting activities according to specific deadlines.
   » Research and resolve payment discrepancies and process Adjustments
   » Communicate with customers via phone, email, mail or personally as needed.
   » Monitor activity details for nonpayment, delay payments and other irregularities.
   » Gain knowledge and proficiency in the billing systems utilized by the organization.
   » Prepare accounting journal entries and reconcile accounts as assigned.
   » Act as back up support to team of A/R billing specialists.
   » Prepare analysis, reports, and other tasks as assigned by the manager, Director of Finance or CFO.
Sets the pace of work for the group and/or shows other workers in the group how to execute assigned tasks. May train and provide feedback on tasks. May review work of external providers. This is not true - this is a medical billing position - other AR staff are not all going to be doing medical billing. We may have this person train other staff to assist but not the whole staff. Not sure if can be edited I did not see another option within the JAQ.

EDUCATION and/or practice
Requires an Associates degree with 5-7 years practice, or
Bachelors with 3-4 years practice.

Thorough knowledge of a specialized area or technical field (such as Residential Care, Child Care, Information Technology, Food Service, Nursing, Accounting, Industrial Arts/Maintenance, or other specialized area), which involves thorough expertise knowledge plus the application of technical expertise.
Requires capability to communicate clearly. Communication involves interpersonal contact with clients/families or employees in other departments to accomplish work or cooperation with team members to accomplish a task. May also involve routine telephone or written correspondence with clients, families, public, vendors, etc., answering requests for information or obtaining facts. Work is performed under occasional supervision with regular guidance and follow-up. Standard procedures are followed and unusual problems are referred to the manager. Suggestions for decisions and resolutions that are within accepted guidelines are encouraged.

TECHNOLOGY expertise
Proficient computer expertise including Windows operating environment using MS Office applications. Demonstrated use of intermediate computer operations and intermediate software packages, (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.).
