Collector

We are pursuing a full-time Loss Mitigation Representative (Collector) to join our team! Individual will need to exhibit superior listening and verbal communication expertise, as well as problem solving expertise, as a primary responsibility in this job offer is working with and counseling members dealing with difficult financial hardships, while maintaining compliance with the Loss Mitigation Department and federal guidelines and timelines. Candidates must also have a availability to work additional or flexible hours as needed, including some evenings and Saturdays. prosperous candidate will demonstrate strong time management expertise, the capability to work independently, the capability to manage multiple workloads, and excellent follow up expertise.
 
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
   » Preserving the credit union's assets and mitigate losses by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments, and/or recovering collateral.
   » Contacting delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current.
   » Analyzing financial situation of delinquent borrowers, which includes making recommendations to liquidate collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unprosperous and offering solutions for hardship, repayment plans, deferments, rewrites, modifications, etc.
   » Maintaining accurate and complete files, and document all activity, and performing skip tracing on accounts, including DMVs, credit reports, and Accurint reports.
 
 
Performance Measurements include:
 
   » Assuring member service is top priority; treats members and other employees professionally with courtesy and respect, always handles situations with the strictest of confidentiality and upholds MHV Service Standards.
   » Decreasing delinquency from the previous year according to the goal set forth in annual performance plan, while the quality of work is satisfactory, with few exceptions. Demonstrating excellent follow-up and organizational expertise and occasionally identifying and resolving issues outside the normal scope of responsibility.
   » consciousness of departmental goals and deadline requirements and attains as required.
   » Maintaining a thorough expertise of the department policies and procedures, including expertise of Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and is expertiseable of the collections and core systems, including having a thorough expertise of bankruptcy, repossession, liquidation, charge off procedures; rarely needing to ask questions.
   » Using sound judgment when making decisions, and keeping management informed of operational issues affecting the credit union's loss mitigation/collection activities.
   » Acting as a good team player, which includes assisting other areas of the department as needed, occasionally make recommendations for operational improvements, and promotes a positive, productive and supportive work environment.
   » Remains adaptable and adjusts to change with reasonable instruction.
   » Staying abreast of current trends affecting the financial services industry, and having an overall expertise of the credit union, its policies, and procedures. Continually expands expertise and develop expertise and completing mandatory classes.

   » One year to three years of similar or related practice.
   » A high school education or GED.

   » Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to execute primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Normal range of vision and hearing abilities required. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
   » Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
   » Must be able to execute job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to execute responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
   » Work is generally performed within an office environment, primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, standing, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; standard office equipment available.
