Job Summary The Broadcast Engineer designs, installs, operates, maintains and repairs all types of audiovisual and broadcasting equipment and provides operational support for live events. The Broadcast Engineer also trains members of the Media Operations team on the correct use and troubleshooting of equipment. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in electronics or electronic technology along with four (4) or more years of practice in multimedia installation and repair. • Valid US Driver's License significant combinations of education, training and practice may be considered. Preferred Qualifications• SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers) and or CTS certification (Certified Technology Specialist) Preferred expertise, Skill, and Abilities • Requires capability to read schematic diagrams and troubleshoot problems to the component or module level. • Requires expertise and proficiency in the following: o Audio technology o Video technology o Projection systems o Control systems, i.e. Extron / AMX o Public Address systems o Videoconferencing/streaming setup and operations for live productions and special events o Microsoft Office, Outlook E-mail, Ethernet, and Microsoft Exchange o Various hardware, software and networking equipment and topologies • Requires planning, organizing and effective time management expertise • Requires a strong commitment to quality and excellent customer service • Requires capability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives • availability to work in a team environment • Excellent interpersonal expertise • capability to work independently Shift Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required TravelLocal travel between campus locations only Driving Driving a Rensselaer vehicle for non-passenger use Starting income/Rate Expected hiring range: $25.00 - 27.00 per hour Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate's income will be determined located on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, practice, education and other job-related credentials.
