Job Summary The Technology Licensing Analyst in the Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing (IPTL) plays a crucial function in the transfer of cutting-edge intellectual property (IP) from Rensselaer to the marketplace. Collaborating closely with the IP Manager and Licensing Associate, the Technology Licensing Analyst will be responsible for licensing and marketing IP, engaging with key stakeholders including researchers and startups, and managing the IP portfolio, including iEdison compliance. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in significant field (e.g., law, business, science, engineering) Two (2) or more years in practice in technology transfer, patent law, or related areas significant combinations of education, training and practice may be considered. Preferred Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, expertise, and Abilities » Working knowledge of intellectual property and technology commercialization matters, and an knowledge of the patent and licensing processes. » capability to analyze and interpret data, preferably including scientific data » Strong communication and negotiation expertise. » Excellent interpersonal, documentation, writing, and presentation expertise. » capability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. » Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite » Excellent interpersonal and organizational expertise » capability to work independently and as part of a team » capability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment » Demonstrated problem solving and project management expertise » capability to work with a diverse group of university and private sector individuals and groups Job tasks » Support licensing agreement negotiations. Promote technology transfer through marketing and outreach efforts. » Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and industry partners to identify licensable technologies. Evaluate patent portfolios and assess commercial potential. » Work closely with IP Manager and patent attorneys to manage patent applications. Coordinate patent filings, responses, and maintenance. Conduct prior art searches and patent landscape analyses. » Assist the IP Manager and Licensing Associate in educating faculty, students, and staff on IP policies, licensing processes, and best practices. Organize workshops and seminars to enhance IP literacy. » Engage with industry partners, investors, and entrepreneurs to explore licensing opportunities. Foster relationships with external stakeholders to promote RPI's IP portfolio. » Maintain accurate records of inventions and patents in compliance with the iEdison reporting system. Assist researchers in fulfilling their reporting obligations. Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submissions. » Perform other tasks as assigned.
