Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.. Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints. Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Cabinetmaker Trade Certification. Area of specialization: Millwork. Solid wood processing. Furniture design. Architectural design. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Tight deadlines. Ability to work independently.
